Sydney armed robbery: Shop owner threatened with a meat clever

A terrified shop owner says she was preparing to close her beauty salon in Sydney’s west for the night when a man approached and threatened her with a large meat cleaver.

Police were called to the salon on Stafford Street in Penrith, at about 11.10pm on Wednesday May 18 after reports of an armed robbery.

It’s understood the man threatened the 39-year-old woman with the meat cleaver before raiding the cash register, stealing the woman’s mobile phone and running off down the street.
